Popchips - Salt and Pepper

I first noticed Popchips when I went to Dragon*Con. Since I review Potato Chips, I had no choice (well, I did, but I love chips. What can I say?) but to buy and try them. I brought the bag to the register, sat down on a bench, and opened the bag. Slowly and excitedly I reached in and pulled out a chip. The chip itself was very light and airy and speckled with little bits of pepper. As always, I smelled it first. Not too overpowering. You definitely knew it was a pepper chip. Finally, I took a bite. The first thing I noticed is the chip had an amazing crunch. It wasn’t hard and crumbly, or soft and soggy. It was more like it had a “snap.” Awesome. The second thing I noticed was the flavour. The black pepper and salt. It flowed through my mouth like a delicious wave. It wasn’t so much flavour that I felt overwhelmed as with some chips. It was done just right. The perfect harmony of salt and pepper. The third thing that hit me was the chip itself. It didn’t have a greasy aftertaste, or any bad aftertaste at all. It was just right. It left the pepper taste in my mouth to complement each additional chip, making it that much more yummy. Expect more reviews for Popchips in the future and keep an eye on ‘em. You wont be disappointed.

Wow. Simply, wow. I heard about popchips from friends, but had never had a chance to give any of them a review. Thrallmind then sent me a message talking about how great they were, and he had a review for them. One problem. We weren’t sure if they were potato chips or crisps. So, it was time to make contact with the popchip company and see if they clarify the situation for us. (The are not chips, but crisps, by definition.) Fast forward a couple weeks, and what shows up on my door step was a box of popchips, in all the flavors, a bag clip, some coupons, and a nice hand written note, inviting me to enjoy the chips. How could I resist? And since Thrallmind had already wrote the review for these, what better place to start than right here.
So how are they? Those first words say it all. Wow. Simply Wow. They really are THAT good. The crunch is unlike anything I am used to as they are air popped, creating something that slightly resembles a rice cake. But the taste is nowhere close to a rice cake as the flavor just exploded in my mouth. The bags carried a great pepper smell, and the pepper taste is fantastic. Overall, I agree completely with Thrallmind, as these are very worthy of the 10 they received.
